Adirondack Extreme

Today is our anniversary!  Scott and I have been together for 9 years, married for 2 — we actually got married on our anniversary.

Last year to celebrate, we did the Adirondack Extreme up in Bolton Landing, NY.   It is a tree-top adventure course, securely suspended between the trees at 10 to 50 feet off the ground.  The course is five large circuits, each progressively harder and higher, and each containing a mixture of approximately 10-17 different obstacles. The obstacles range from, zip-lines, rope swings, scrambling walls, hanging nets, wobbly bridges, and many other suspended surprises.  You are safely clipped in the entire way, and if you ever need to quit, there are guides within shouting distance who will come and belay you down.

The experience was so cool.  It requires strength, focus, balance and the ability to calm your nerves.  Scott basically made it all the way through, minus the last few obstacle — he has less balance and because of that he was swinging and swaying all over the place!  It takes a lot of strength to stay upright so he was wiped out by the end.  Within a matter of minutes, one of the guides had him lowered to the ground.  That left me on the Black course, all by myself, about 50 ft off the ground… but I made it through to the very end.  I was so proud of myself and of Scott for what we had just done.

We liked it so much that for Christmas, we bought passes for my Dad & Donna (who used to be big time rock climbers) and for my brother because we knew he would love the challenge.  It is now almost October and they have yet to use their passes… hopefully, they won’t chicken out…
