The leaves are definitely past peak, but despite the recent rain and wind, the colorful leaves are still hanging on. Factor in the fabulous sunny, warm weather we’ve had in October, and this year’s apple bounty… and I’d say it has been a perfect Fall so far.
Perfect that is until the snow flurries arrive in the hill country (that’s us) later this week. I think last year’s first snow was November 8th, but this feels way too early – our fields aren’t even hayed yet. Our goal was to not turn on the heat until November 1… but as I sit here on my computer in this 60° house, with cup of hot tea, a blanket and a hot water bottle, I realize it may be time to give up this barn animal existence and turn on the heat.
